Regarding a PM I recieved

Apparently the guys at a site known as "GameClub" sent me a PM requesting that this site reviews their recently released MMORPG called "Dragona:Expedition of Bartan". I'll post the PM with any personal information excluded for privacy's sake.

This is --- of GameClub.com Inc., a subsidiary of LivePlex Corp. Korea. Recently, our head office in Korea had developed a very unique online MMORPG titled “Dragona: Expedition of Bartan”. We went live this January 03, 2012, it was a successful launch and the game is currently going strong after 2 months.

The game presents its unique game concepts and story line that we would like more players to know this game. Just this February 15, 2012 we released our first major expansion which includes a new map for our Battle of Celebration and also Ezulan Castle Siege. This March were having three events Brood’s Incursion, Ezulan Olympiad and Dragona Art Attack.

We are currently looking for sites to help us review our game and we think your site is suited to help with this.

If you are interested for more detailed information we can send you the whole Dragona Media kit.

What do you guys think of this? It obviously means our forum is gaining SOME momentum I suppose. As a side note it seems this game is PC only and the fact that I have a Mac and can't count on CrossOver 100% means I may not be able to review it even if I wanted to. I also have no idea what the "Media Kit" includes or if it could be sent to another member who may want to review the game in my stead.

I use a mac as well but I run Parallels. My question is are you sure it's legit? Not some scam or virus?

As far as I can tell the message is legitimate. Contact information was sent and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with other than the obvious "why us?" question. It seems odd that they'd want a site dedicated as a forum for a Guild in a different game to review them... The site is much too young to have a credible opinion so I'm reasonably skeptical. It may be simply automated and sent automatically to various sites and our name was drawn from the hat I guess. I just want to hear what the other guys think.

seems interesting... The "Why Us?" is certainly a legit question though...

Maybe we should play along for a bit? if for no other reason than to play a free game if we're cared about it, I have a back up of my entire computer and can "test the waters" so to speak.

The problem is I'd have to poke around in CrossOver to get anything to work and that's bothersome. Also some games can take a good while to really get into. I simply do not have the time commitment required to review something on the scale of a MMORPG. Though I could just use the Yahtzee method... I honestly have no idea what to do but am leaning towards the side of just ignoring it.

unless this request is being sent at random, which i'm sure it's automated considering how vague the reason for being chosen is, the only rational purpose of us being chosen i can see is the off chance possibility that we are all online players and might take interest in the game as a group- even though our subtitle specifically mentions this site is for Spiral Knights only. aside from that i don't see any reason for us to care at all considering that the only reward is probably the game itself, and publicity to their end.

Those are all valid points. The only interest I have in the game is the possibility to gain some moneys. But based on the rather vague nature of the message I doubt they have time to negotiate monetary compensation with such a small site. I don't see any gain for me personally but maybe a member here wants to review it for their own site... I dunno. All I know is that I probably definitely won't be spending my time reviewing this game.

I wouldn't mind that but there's the matter of what the heck this Media Kit is and if it'll be necessary to do anything. I can give you the sender's e-mail for contact if you're interested.

It basically said contact me if you're interested and we'll send the media kit... I sent all that I got and have as much info as you on it.

lol oh well. if they had sent a link to the file or the game's homepage maybe, I would have checked it out. I don't understand why a link to the game's website wasn't included in the PM (or how you got it from someone who isn't a forum member, but whatev's) so maybe it WOULD be smart to pass this up for safety's sake.

I googed "Dragona Media kit" The exact same message has appeared on at least 3 other guild/gaming forums.

Reading their forums the consensus appears to be:

1. English is rare. Mostly koreans play.

2. The game sucks. Very Beta-ish, imbalanced, crappy graphics, etc.

I wouldn't bother with your time.
