Dragon's Dogma DEMO
So apparently Dark Souls, Skyrim, and The Witcher all had this epic fantasy sex orgy, and Dragon's Dogma is what they made. SDFL:HK LSDJLSDGJGLSD GSJHJ:SDF:ASDFHL :ASJF SO EXCITED FOR THIS GAME CAPS LOCK FALCON PAWNCH FIRIN HIZ LAZOR..... OK I'm done gushing. But no seriously, supposedly this is a lot like the Witcher (and to an extent, Skyrim as well) where crafting and alchemy is the most reliable way to get the best gear and potions and stuff, and the combat is kinda like The Witcher as well. Exploration is much like Dark Souls - extremely unforgiving (ESPECIALLY if you get stuck out past nightfall) but can also be very rewarding. It's also very open world from what I hear; there's no specific direction of the story, you can kinda bend it to your tastes like Skyrim (I would say Dark Souls as well, but.... Dark Souls' story is like 99% lore and 1% game progression, so I don't think it's a decent analogy even though technically you DO have choices to make story-wise.)
tl;dr - I'M FCKN EXCITED FOR THIS BADASS GAME BECAUSE IT HAS DRAGONS. Discuss.

Anyway I haven're really played those games so I can't give much of an opinion on what I think the game will be like. I don't know how your tastes in games differ from mine BUT it does sound... interesting to say the least.
Re: Dragon's Dogma DEMO

I'm impressed that given the context you managed to put the word 'serious' in your post that wasn't somehow tied to David Silverman.

I've made a statement somewhere (in chat?) that I think I lost my serious face. Maybe just the internet bringing out the silliness in me.Silloe wrote:https://skguilddevioussouls.forumotion.com/t30-lunacite-studios#381

why "fix'd" as opposed to "fixed"? it's not a contraction, nor is fix'd any easier to type :F

I refute this, but I'm willing to haggle you down.

Re: Dragon's Dogma DEMO
Yeah, absolutely.
There are a number of currencies to change opinion.
For example:
You think 'X' is worthless.
Super hawtt chi><orz (or relatable sex object) thinks 'X' is teh roxorz.
You think 'X' is pretty kewl after all.
Example B:
You are a politician. You think 'X' is worthless.
Your constituents think 'X' is a human right.
You still think 'X' is worthless.
A corporation funds your platform, and they are very pro 'X'.
You think 'X' is pretty kewl after all.
Example C:
You think 'X' is worthless.
A wild Potato appears!
You send out Diglett.
They are very similar in nature, and become bros 4 lief.
You become rock hard at the very thought of 'X'.
Profit.

I must function oddly because A doesn't apply to me. B makes a whole lot of sense because it happens daily in politics. And C... I don't even know what to make of C really.
Libido for thought
Here's an interesting question for ya Nith.
Imagine yourself 10 to 15 years from now. What do you think of yourself? Do you think you've changed the opinions you currently hold?

Re: Dragon's Dogma DEMO
It's possible but I can't be exactly sure I would have changed at all. Plus the above doesn't reflect any of the examples put forth. What I'm saying is if it's normal to change your opinion simply because someone you like holds a different one then I am not normal. Not to say my opinion will never change just that it's not going to change because another person holds a different one.Silloe wrote:Here's an interesting question for ya Nith.

Re: Dragon's Dogma DEMO
OK, well, let me put forth 2 ideas.
First, we are all bound by sexual desire whether we acknowledge it or deny it. If we see a beer commercial with a bunch of sexy chicks and dudes, even if we consciously dismiss it as nonsense, we are on some level going to look favorably upon it. Sex sells, and nobody has perfect control over that... unless they're very abnormal. Wet dreams, morning wood, random erections, chicks and their biological clocks, periods, mood swings, a racing heart, etc. Hormones, psychology/subconscious power levels are over 9000.
I wasn't trying to say that if your beloved mother became a Neo Nazi tomorrow you'd suddenly say "Hmm... interesting, Ma. Yeah, Ok, let's go start another Reich.", nor if your girlfriend loves Twilight you're going to start to see how great it actually is and join Team Edward (I'd dump her. Team Jacob 5 Eva!). The opinions of the ones we love and respect however do tend to make us more malleable to concepts we might dismiss otherwise.
2nd, consider yourself as a 15 year old, and how much you've changed since then. Of course, they say the older we get the less we change in a given period, in fact the odds are very against you to make any sort of major change in your personality after you hit 30.
Personally, I hope I never stop changing, hopefully the me 5 years from now will look back and see a person they have grown out of.
Also, do you really think that your opinion isn't altered when presented with a different one? I mean, either you'd have to be a complete sociopath, or you're just protecting your ego - obstinately saying "I'm independent, a unique snowflake, a manly island to myself!"
I don't think that adapting or being malleable makes a person weak, or passive. Putting thought into the thoughts of others, and changing is character building. It allows a one to understand and sympathize with others more easily.
Well, Keep on Truckin'!

Re: Dragon's Dogma DEMO
The first example you put forth (we'll call Example A from now on) showed a rather direct and rapid change. Changing you're opinion that way because someone you may be attracted has a differing one is rather silly and either a facade or a sign that the man in question could be thinking he lacks in some area. He feels he is too deficient in some area so he has to put on this fake personality to make this girl like him. This is all really silly but maybe example A is a bit of an exaggerated case. Now if it was along the lines of:
Guy thinks movie is dumb.
Girl says movie is good and says he should watch it.
Guy wants to get on her good side so he tries to watch the movie and do his best to enjoy it.
Guy still thinks movie is dumb but maybe less so than before.
I'm not going to do a complete 180 on something because of a cute girl. Whether or not it affects me and to what degree it does is debatable however. I just thought Example A was a bit extreme to most here since acting in such a manner seems rather juvenile to me. Granted my example isn't much if any better but it more accurately describes they way I'd act.

Re: Dragon's Dogma DEMO
Yeah, those examples are to be take with a pood of salt.
You'd need to drink the Dead Sea to get anything out of the last one.
The 2nd one is pretty falsifiable as well. I mean, the politician never really changes his nature, just his demeanor.
As for guys that put on facades, I think there are genuinely manipulative people, but I think most people just get nervous and want to make a good impression, causing them to appear disingenuous.
Anyway, I should have put it in bold earlier, but you've been kinda dodging a rather important question, Nith.
Well, which is it?

Do you even have to ask?
Between a shaved alpaca that thinks it's a werewolf and the lovechild of Dracula and Tinkerbell the choice is obvious.
